 Canoe Sprint Races:

  • 2 divisions Ages 13-17 - Juniors,     Ages 18 and over  - Adults
  • Canoes, paddles, and life jackets furnished
  • Canoes will run in heats of 4-6 canoes
  • Life jackets must be worn, you may bring your own, or one will be furnished
  • Course will be a short looped course (about 5 min.) at Overlook Park and will be visible to the crowd. Each heat will have a time limit, and will start every 15-20 minutes.
  • Medals awarded to top 5 in each division
  • Racers with the 5 fastest times in each division will be entered into a drawing for a canoe and a Zaveral carbon paddle. All Sprint Race participants qualify for the Xbox 360 drawing. Limit 1 prize per person.
  • Entry fee $20 for adults and $10 for juniors, per person
  • Race will be limited to first 100 people registering
  • Time 12:00 pm -3pm.

 

Demo Canoe Race:

  • 3 x 27 – 4 x 32 – and standard USCA Spec. Canoes
  • Paddler Introductions in front of stage 3:45 PM
  • 200 yard Le Mans(Running) start on path through crowd
  • 5 mile loop course (about 1hr 15min. est. finish time)
  • Entry Fee:  $10 per person or free with sprint race participation.
  • Start Time:  4:00 pm

 

Demo Kayak Race:

  • Any solo racing type kayak or surfski
  • Paddler Introductions in front of stage 3:40 PM
  • On water downstream start
  • 5 mile loop course (about 1hr 15min. est. finish time)
  • Entry Fee:  $10 per person or free with sprint race participation.
  • Start Time: 4:05 PM

 

Awards and Drawings – 6:00 PM

  • Only Canoe Sprint Race participants as described above are eligible to win. - Prizes - 1 pre-owned canoe in good condition – 1 new Zaveral carbon paddle - 1 new Xbox 360.

 

Registration:

  • Canoe Sprint Race limited to first 100 people to register
  • Registration opens August 15 to October 7 @ 10:00 am for Sprint Races and 2:00 pm for Demo Races.

Proceeds will go towards forming a “Venture Crew” for NE Arkansas.  This will be for area youth 14-20 years of age to learn canoeing, canoe racing, hiking and other outdoor activities.
